Description
Curonians are one of the Baltic tribes, which formed around the 5th–early 6th centuries on the southeastern coast of the Baltic Sea and, during their heyday in the 9th–12th centuries, expanded their territory northward. Today, the historical lands inhabited by the Curonians are located in the territory of Lithuania and Latvia.
This publication presents only the jewelry, their wearing style and clothing details typical of this tribe. Jewelry constitutes the most abundant group of archaeological finds, and they are the best studied in terms of typology. The catalog provides a detailed description of the burial site in the description of each item, and the burial method is noted next to the grave number: skeletal or cremated.
