The book by the famous photographer Jan Bu\u0142hak (1876\u20131950) publishes two literary works: the memoirs \u201cThe Land of Childhood Years\u201d and the collection of eighteen short stories \u201cHomes\u201d. The memoirs cover the years 1882\u20131886, spent in his native Ostashino estate. J. Bu\u0142hak lovingly describes his native home, parents and relatives, childhood games, impressions of trips around the Novgorod region, visits to neighboring estates, and homeschooling before leaving for Vilnius Gymnasium. It is a hymn to his native land, a confession of love for his father and mother, and the apotheosis of rural life.
