Description

„Rave nation“ – tai paroda ne visai apie vakarėlius. Arba – ne vien apie vakarėlius.
It is an archive, a map of the field of rupture, in which rave is recognized as a form of culture, as a machine of resistance, escape, and (re)formation, which is shown in the exhibition only in small fragments left after the intense party "battle": in flyers, photographs, and archival video recordings.
In the West, rave culture emerged as an illegal infrastructure for collective ecstasy and post-industrial grief or dissatisfaction with life, but in Lithuania between 1992 and 2004, it mutated into something else – a rave imprinted with local history and political tension and the taste of newly regained freedom.
