The H. L. Gaidys collection, accumulated over more than 50 years – an impressive collection of military weapons and military attributes, archival and written sources – is a wonderful gift to the National Museum of Lithuania and all of Lithuania. The collection, which consists of almost 8,000 items, contains exhibits and memorials from the times of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania to the present day. The collector has collected many exceptional exhibits related to the destroyed interwar Lithuanian army, as well as Lithuanians who served in the armies of various states. The collection is rich in military uniforms, archival and iconographic materials, and a numismatic collection.
The exhibition catalog includes stories told by researchers and a brief presentation of the collection, allowing you to get an overview of this exceptional gift to the museum.
