The National Museum of Lithuania, celebrating the 700th anniversary of the city of Vilnius, presents to the public one of the most important iconographic sources of 19th-century Lithuanian history and culture – the painting by Jonas Kazimieras Vilčinskis. This book is based on the collection of the National Museum of Lithuania, supplemented by sheets kept in other Lithuanian museums, libraries and private collections, as well as exhibits from the National Museums of Warsaw and Krakow, and copies from the National Library of Warsaw. The book is prepared as a scientific catalog-album, with priority given to the publication of images. The images in the book are divided into six main themes: architectural landscapes, church art, historical events, illustrations of literary and musical works, portraits, and historical monuments.
