The publication presents the history of Vilnius' Upper Castle Hill from the first archaeological finds of the old settlement, dating back to the first half of the 1st millennium AD, the emergence of the castle in the 13th century, its restoration and architectural reconstructions in various historical periods to the present day. The Upper Castle Tower, which has become a symbol of the capital and the state, today houses the historical exposition of weapons and castle iconography of the National Museum of Lithuania. The publication is illustrated with valuable iconographic documents.
